Shallow Depth of Field and B & W

I read if you use a large aperture, while getting very close to your subject, you get a VERY shallow depth of field.  So I decided to try it and it worked out well!

Tried playing with a little HDR.  Not perfect, but something a little different. ; )

Rodeo Action... Cass County Fair

Bull and bronc riding are totally my favorite sports, not football, soccer, basketball or baseball (yick... so boring!).   I was thrilled to go to the Cass County Fair rodeo and to be able to capture some fun shots.  The lighting was pretty terrible so for the bull riding, I basically had to have my ISO all the way up.  They turned out a little grainy but I still like them.

Yipes!!! All I have to say... YIPES!!!

This cowboy had a pretty straight ride, he had one of the best times.

Right before this the cowboy had his face smashed against the bull's head.... yipes!  Good thing he had a helmet and mask on!
